Creating Sacred Lives /
Sacred Spaces
Blessings for Beings and Environments
|
Each person, home, office
and
land is individually assessed to determine which rituals may
be needed, depending on the situation, energies and
forces—positive and negative—that are involved. Below is the
spectrum of Vajrayana Buddhist rituals and ceremonies that are used singly or in combination to
heal, energize and sanctify oneself and one's environment. |

1.Blessing: Fire offering
ceremony
Mountain of Purified Offerings (Riwo Sang Chö) is a core
offering ritual, using the smoke of sacred aromatic mixtures
and potentization by mantra to create vast spiritualized
healing offerings. These are offered to
enlightened beings, local deities, land guardians and all
beings in creation. This blessing clears away obstacles,
increases wealth energy, improves health and heals the
environment. Vast positive karma is also gathered in the
process and past karmic debts are repaid. A blessing
walk-through of the home is also often performed and prayer flags may
be hung, generating a continual sustained stream of positive energy.

2. Enriching: Wealth energy
For many of us, money and security issues are a source of constant
stress and even trauma. The practice of Yang Guk (the "hooking of
prosperity energy") and aspiration prayers such as the
Spontaneous Fulfilling of All Wishes, are done in
the home or workplace or in a common community space.
Using mediation, mantric speech, mudras along with a variety
of offering substances, the causes of poverty that impede
wealth can be removed while the circumstances that bring
internal increase and true richness can increase. Material success
can then flow naturally. A consecrated "wealth vase,"
containing precious and consecrated substances can be used
to amplify the process.

3. Purification: Sanctifying the home
Negative conduct can leave disruptive traces or "stains"
that pollute our lives and environments. These pollutions
can often cause imbalances which can lead to maladies of
various types and moreover perpetuate themselves cyclically. Often,
cleansing rituals (Trul) for
purification of the home are performed to clear
non-productive or negative energies, while inviting powerful
positive forces to enhance all aspects of life. Participants
can recognize and correct whatever faulty actions or
misunderstandings have occurred. The all-accomplishing Nampar Jompa mantra is highlighted in this rite of
outer, inner and
secret purification.

4.
Protection: Removing obstacles
There are times in life
when strong obstacles arise and the source may remain
persistent, yet unseen. In such cases, it is sometimes necessary to
make specific decisive efforts to focus, define and clear away such
hindrances to our life activities and peace of mind. Several
Tibetan sacred methods can bring this about, including the
generation of the Wrathful Heruka (Phurba), who
destroys all obstacles, and the Lion-Headed Dakini, who
reverses all negative influences and misfortune.

5. Cutting Through: chöd ritual
Chöd is a powerful sacred method for cutting through very
deep obstacles, that are rooted in our own self-clinging.
These include negative entities, harmful
spirits, or the disruptive effects of a personal tragedy,
death of a close relation, and so on. Chöd subdues and
befriends all local energies, demons and disharmonious
forces, bringing them towards spiritual healing. The karmic
debts that have resulted in our difficulties are repaid and
cleared. Chöd is the fastest way to accumulate vast merit
and benefit all sentient beings without exception. The lamas normally perform the Chöd Feasts according to the
Dudjom Tersar tradition.
